Thank you for your interest in becoming a foster care provider through Fayette Friends of Animals!

What does being a foster family mean?

  • Through becoming a part of FFOA foster care provider program, you are providing a temporary home for an animal that for whatever reason would benefit from being housed outside of the shelter. This program is perfect for an animal lover that wants to help make a difference in an animal’s life but cannot provide an animal with a permanent home due to traveling, already having animals, etc…

Why should you foster?:

  • The FFOA foster care provider program can be a wonderful experience for you and your family, through knowing that you have made a positive difference in an animal’s life.

There are many reasons a dog/cat may need foster care, some of these reasons include:

  • Puppies/kittens may be too young to be adopted and need a place to stay; until they are old enough to be adopted.

  • A dog/cat may be exhibiting signs of stress in the shelter environment and through fostering, you will assist the shelter staff in learning more about the dog/cat to find them the perfect home.

  • A dog/cat may need assistance with socialization or training due to never living in a home.

  • A dog/cat may be undergoing a treatment or recovering from a surgery.

  • The shelter may be running out of room for adoptable dogs/cats and through fostering, you will help to free up space to take care of other animals in need.

The typical timeline for the FFOA foster care provider program can be anywhere from two weeks to two months depending upon the situation. Please keep in mind that every situation is different and you may have your foster pet for a shorter time frame then the typical two weeks to two months.
